Cryo-thermotherapy
Cold and heat for therapeutic purposes
Cold and heat have been used in therapy for centuries to treat various health problems. Our modern therapy devices utilise these principles (cryotherapy and thermotherapy) for targeted and effective treatments.
Cryotherapy
Cryotherapy is a physical therapy in which therapeutic effects are achieved through the targeted use of cold. It can be used in the following cases
When can cryotherapy be used?
Thermotherapy
Thermotherapy is also a physical therapy in which therapeutic effects are achieved through the targeted use of heat. Heat increases blood circulation, promotes the removal of metabolic by-products from the tissue, increases the supply of oxygen, accelerates biochemical reactions in the body and has a pain-relieving and muscle-relaxing effect.
Thermotherapy is used for the following treatments:
- Bruises, sprains, bursitis, muscle tears and strains;
- Spinal syndromes with muscle contractures;
- Muscle spasms due to fatigue, as it promotes the breakdown of lactic acid accumulated in the muscles;
- Preparation before exercises for the muscle warm-up phase;
- Preparation for physiotherapy exercises.
Thermoschock und Kontrastmitteltherapie®
Thermal shock, on the other hand, can be used to treat the following conditions:
- Rheumatoide Arthritis und allgemeine Entzündungen
- Hexenschuss
- Arthrose
- muskuläre Probleme
- akute Verletzungen
- postoperative Genesung.
Contrast Therapy® is a physical therapy in which heat and cold cycles are applied. It is used selectively to treat oedema, pain, muscle contractures, tendonitis, aponeurosis and periosteum.
Cryo-thermal devices
With the qmd® cryo-thermal you have the option of inducing a cold effect (hypothermia from -15 °C to +15 °C), a heat effect (hyperthermia from +30 °C to +45 °C), a thermal shock (the temperature drops by 30 °C in a short time) and the exclusive contrast therapy® (the alternating application of heat and cold cycles).
