patient info - qmd laser and cryo-thermo therapy

qmd® laser therapy

The laser is a source of bright electromagnetic radiation.
Laser therapy uses this electro-magnetic energy in the form of photons and produces the following recognised therapeutic effects on the tissue:

  • anti-inflammatory
  • analgesic
  • biostimulant and regenerative
  • vasodilator on microcirculation
  • anti-edema

The qmd® laser has up to 3 wavelengths that are individually controllable and which enable continuous, pulsed, superpulsed and frequency-modulated delivery. In this way, different pathologies can be treated faster and more efficiently.

How long does a treatment last?

The treatment time is relatively short, it lasts between 5 to max. 15 minutes depending on the clinical picture.

qmd® cryo- & thermotherapy

Cryotherapy is a physical therapy with targeted use of cold. It is suitable for the treatment of acute trauma, after-effects oftrauma, bursitis, arthrosynovitis, tendonitis and inflammatory arthropathies.

Thermotherapy, on the other hand, is a physical therapy with targeted use of heat. The heat increases blood flow, increases oxygenation, accelerates all biochemical reactions of the body and has an analgesicand muscle relaxant effect.

Thanks to these treatment methods excellent therapeutic results are obtained on:

  • post-traumatic edemas
  • articolar pains
  • tenosynovitis
  • muscle contractures
  • muscle strains
  • post-operative problems

A peculiarity of qmd®: innovative combination of laser- & cryo-thermo-therapy

After thorough studies of the scientific bibliography and years of experience in this field, our researchers developed the high performance combination (HPC)therapy. It is a synergetic combination of qmd® laser-, cryo- and thermotherapy.
The combination of these treatment methods has particularly good results for pain relief, inflammation, oedema, muscle tension and wound healing.

We recommend the qmd® laser therapy in combination with the qmd® cryo-themo-therapy for the treatment of:

  • rheumatoid arthritis
  • general inflammation
  • neck pain
  • joint and muscle pain
  • carpal tunnel syndrome
  • lumbago
  • osteoarthritis

Does the treatment cause pain?

The patient may feel a slight warming or cooling of the tissue in the treated area, without any further annoying effects.
